UTM tags are a parameter in the URL that allows you to track the source of traffic and the effectiveness of your ads.

How to use UTM-tags

You can use UTM tags for analytics on the platform, do subscriber segmentation or export.

The tags will be saved in the contact card in the corresponding field.

How UTM tags work

  1. Adding tags to URLs: You add UTM parameters to a URL using a special format.

  2. Data transfer: When you navigate to the bot from a product landing page or funnel with UTM tags, the data is automatically transferred to the contact card.

  3. Data analysis: You can do segmentation by tags, create individual segments and export information about them.

The structure of UTM tags

UTM tags consist of five basic parameters that are appended to the URL in the following format:

https://www.example.com?utm_source=source&utm_medium=medium&utm_campaign=campaign&utm_term=term&utm_content=content

  1. utm_source (Traffic source)

    • Description: Identifies a traffic source, such as a search engine or social network

    • Examples of values: google, facebook, newsletter

  2. utm_medium (Traffic type)

    • Description: Indicates the type of traffic or advertising channel.

    • Examples of values: cpc, email, social

  3. utm_campaign (Campaign name)

    • Description: Name of the advertising campaign or promotion.

    • Examples of values: summer_sale, holiday_promo

  4. utm_term (Key word) (optionally)

    • Description: Tracking keywords in paid search campaigns.

    • Examples of values: running_shoes, organic_coffee

  5. utm_content (Table of Contents) (optionally)

    • Description: Difference between versions of an ad or content.

    • Examples of values: banner_ad, text_link

How to set up

You need to put the right tags and their parameters in the link to the product or funnel landing page.

Example, https://app.zenedu.io/l/6fjA9pbHFUNEhQF1?utm_source=facebook&utm_medium=target, where the tag parameters - facebook and target will be written to the contact card on the platform in the corresponding fields
