How to launch the Mini App

Updated yesterday

Mini App — is a student’s personal account where they can access lessons, manage subscriptions, and participate in the affiliate program. Each subscriber can add your course as a separate app on their phone.

What your student can do in the app:

  • Access all lessons, track progress, and see product access time.

  • View and cancel their subscriptions.

  • Participate in the affiliate program, copy referral links, and view his results.

  • View information about their profile (you can customize its appearance).

  • Open a chat quickly with your support or a specific manager.

You can also set up quick access to your social media, webinars, streams, or files.

Mini App is available on both the Basic and Pro plans.

With the Pro plan, you get more features:

  • You can create 3 onboarding screens instead of 1.

  • The «Powered by Zenedu» branding is hidden.

  • You can choose a custom brand color, upload a logo, and select a theme (light, dark, or system theme for Telegram).

How to set up the Mini App

  1. Configure lesson access for the app. To do this, check the settings of each lesson in the «Access» column.

2. In the «Mini App» section on the platform, launch the onboarding screens.

3. Add menu items that will appear at the bottom of your Mini App screen.

4. Add subscriber profile items.

5. Configure all branding settings available in your plan.

6. Click «Preview» and test in the Mini App how it will look for your students.

7. Next, click the «Activate» button. A pop-up window will appear asking you to complete the final setup of your bot in BotFather to unlock all Mini App features (for example, so subscribers can add it to their phone’s home screen).

1. Open BotFather and select your bot.
2. Go to Mini Apps → Main App.
3. Paste the Mini App link and click «Save».

After completing these steps, click «Done» in the window. If you are not ready to finish the setup now, select «Later», and then in the design section, you will see an info block reminding you about this action.

Mini App Features

1. Screens

1.1. Onboarding — the initial screens that are shown only once when the Mini App is launched for the first time.

You can add information about your brand, company, and what the student can expect in the Mini App. This sets the right expectations.

  • For Basic, 1 onboarding screen is available.

  • With Pro, you can create 3 consecutive onboarding screens.

On each screen, you can set the text, title, button label, and image.

1.2. Menu — these are the sections at the bottom of the screen that replace the standard bot menu.

There are 6 types of menu items in total:

  • Products — all your lessons, groups, and channels. Be sure to keep this section.

  • Profile — the student’s profile with key information. You can configure what exactly is displayed here.

  • Link — any external link (contacts, social media, streams).

  • Subscriptions — subscription management. The student can pause any subscription.

  • Affiliate Program — share a referral link and view statistics.

  • Support — leads to communication with your manager or brand.

We recommend keeping ‘Subscriptions’ in the profile rather than in the menu to make navigation easier.

The Menu can contain a maximum of 5 items, so include only the most important ones.

1.3. Profile

The profile consists of the following items:

  • Support

  • Subscriptions

  • Affiliate

  • Links

This is how each item will appear in the Mini App:

You can create up to 10 profile sections.

«Support», «Subscriptions», and «Affiliate» are items that you can keep either in the profile or in the menu. To move an item from one section to another, click the three dots next to it and select the desired option.

2. Design

Here you configure the design of the Mini App.

In the Basic plan, you can change the app name, the app launch button text, and the app language.

With Pro, you can:

  • Set a brand color

  • Hide the «Powered be Zenedu»

  • Choose a theme: light, dark, or system

  • Upload your own logo

This way, your Mini App will look unique and reflect your brand’s style.

3. Content Delivery Settings

In the «Products» menu item, you can:

  • Show progress — the percentage of completed lessons is visible in each product.

  • Show lesson covers — make sure that lessons have a cover in the required step.

Progress displays the same lesson completion details as seen on the subscriber page.

In the Mini App, only lessons added to the menu are displayed. The others are not visible.

Lessons open according to the step schedule or when a lesson is clicked — it is automatically sent to the bot.

If access to the product has expired, product remain in the list but become unclickable.

Channels and groups are displayed together with products. When clicked, the student is redirected to the specified channel or group.

Content protection works as before — students cannot forward or save materials.

4. Affiliate program in the Mini App

If you have an affiliate program, you can add the «Affiliate» to the menu or profile.

If you have multiple partner links, they will all appear in the app in the same order as on the platform. The ‘Share Link’ button uses the first link.

In the Affiliate program link settings, there is an option «Show link name in the bot» — if enabled, the Mini App will display the link name instead of the actual link.

Learn more about the Affiliate Program — via the link.

5. Support

In this profile section, you can configure quick communication between the student and your support team.

If you select «Bot» in the «Support Channel» setting, then when the user clicks this profile item or menu option, the app will minimize and open your bot.

If you select the «Link» in this setting, you can insert a link to your manager’s Telegram contact.

You can also configure a welcome message that will be displayed when clicking the «Support» profile item.

6. Mini App Preview

All changes can be previewed in «Preview» mode before publishing.

Be sure to test everything through the preview before applying changes.

To save the changes, click «Publish» — users will see the updated version of the Mini App.

7. Disable the Mini App

You can always disable the Mini App and enable it again. To do this, click the button «Unpublish» next to «Publish»:

To enable it again, click the «Activate» button that will appear in this spot.
